We received the visit of the students of the second year of the Advanced Degree in Ortoprosthesis of the Santa Apolonia School of Santiago de Compostela.
During their visit, the students had the opportunity to learn, step by step, the different manufacturing processes of a LOSAL shoe.
There was also a special mention to the shoes TO MEASURE; where they could see, first hand, how a shoe is made for people with foot problems (bunions, claw toes, amputations, etc.).
CALZADOS LOSAL was one of the 1,400 companies from around the world that participated in MICAM87, an international footwear fair that took place in the Italian city of Milan on 10-13 February.
With 182 exhibitors, Spain was the second country in number of participants in the fair.
The Italian shoe fair was visited by 43,000 professionals; of whom 60% was foreign.
On this occasion our company presented the next fall/winter 2019/2020 collection; focusing on our particular manufacturing method known as GOODYEAR WELTED, a laborious and 100% handmade process.
Spanish footwear is still committed to internationalization: 181 Spanish footwear exhibitors are participating in the next edition of the MICAM international fair, one of the most important events on the international calendar, which will take place from 10 to 13 February in the Italian city of Milan.

The Association of Young Entrepreneurs (AJE) of Lugo held its first congress in Monforte de Lemos on December 12th; where the Regional Minister of Economy, Francisco Conde, extolled the entrepreneurial potential of the region and highlighted some of the advantages that business activity can bring to a territory. Five companies from the city participated in the event.
One of those responsible was Gonzalo López González, manager of the historic Calzados Losal factory. Also there was Cándida Rodríguez, promoter of the riding school Finca El Carmen; Xosé García, from the innovative livestock that produces organic products Casa da Fonte; Brais Moure, who has set up an IT development company in his own home; and Iván Patiño, member of the audiovisual production company Amanita Estudio.
Many of the projects that have been launched in the city of Cabe in recent times have been through the business plan co working, which instructs people who want to move forward a company about how to do it successfully. Some of these initiatives have encompassed the agri-food, wine and tourism sectors.
Franscisco Conde pointed out the protagonism of entrepreneurs when it comes to carrying out important tasks such as energizing the economy, establishing a population or creating jobs. The conselleiro was accompanied during the session by the president of AJE Lugo, Mauricio Repetto Morbán; the mayor of Monforte, José Tomé; the provincial deputy of economic and social promotion, Sonsoles López Izquierdo; and the sub-delegation of the Government in Lugo; Isabel Rodríguez.
During his speech, Lopez Izquierdo highlighted the commitment of the council “with the Lugo business fabric” and announced that in the current mandate, the government of socialist Darío Campos “invested 28 million to hire 2,000 Lugo unemployed.”
Monforte and O Saviñao are two of Lugo’s 19 city councils that have taken advantage of the Business Implementation Law, which came into force only a year ago and which gives them the category of entrepreneurial municipality.
One of the objectives of the congress held in Monforte de Lemos was precisely to motivate future entrepreneurs to carry out their business ideas, as well as show how to overcome adversity.
We provide the radio fragment corresponding to our interview on Radio Galega; where a small tour through the most important sections is made when manufacturing a totally handmade shoe like ours.
We also talked a little about the manufacturing technique known as GOODYEAR WELTED; an expensive and handmade manufacturing method, which requires the intervention of man, synonymous with a quality shoe.
In fact, footwear experts say that the unique GOODYEAR WELTED sewing process is the best method to manufacture a good shoe.
The program A Revista of Televisión de Galicia (TVG) makes a video report on the trajectory of Calzados Losal, from its origins in the year 1.899 to the present.
The report will show some of the 250 steps that the manufacturing process of a Losal shoe has; as well as some curiosities about the new GOLF LOSAL line.
We will also talk about the history of this century-old company, which next year 2019 will be 120 years old.
The newspaper El Progreso de Lugo makes a report on Calzados Losal, a centenary company with almost 120 years dedicated to the manufacture of footwear in the Galician city of Monforte de Lemos (Lugo).
The report made by the newspaper focuses on basic aspects such as the peculiar manufacturing that Calzados Losal has been using during all these years; a manufacturing known as Goodyear Welted. A 100% handmade and very laborious process, since each shoe requires a total of 250 different steps.
We provide the radio fragment corresponding to our interview on Onda Cero Monforte; where important points are commented on the new shoe line of Calzados Losal related to the world of golf.
This year 2018 has started with a great novelty for Calzados Losal, since after many tests, we have launched this new line of models focused on GOLF; a sport of precision, where the shoe, indispensable piece to make a better swing and stance, becomes a fundamental element, due to the duration and the kilometres that are used in the matches.
We can say that this new line GOLF LOSAL, apart from being 100% handmade shoes and manufactured entirely in Monforte de Lemos (Lugo – Spain), have far exceeded expectations regarding:
Apart from all this, the use of a sole with soft studs, made of rubber, does not cause any damage to the floors of the golf courses.
We provide the radio fragment corresponding to our interview on Onda Cero Monforte; where important points of Calzados Losal are discussed, such as our collaboration with the School of Industrial Design of Ferrol, our future participation in the MOSSHOES trade fair, held in the Russian city of Moscow; some small details and news of our new line of shoes related to the world of golf and about our experience at THE MICAM, held in the Italian city of Milan last February.
Our company was one of the more than 100 companies from around the world that participated in the MOSSHOES trade fair, an international fair that took place in the Russian city of Moscow on March 13-16.
According to the statistics of MOSSHOES, this year, more than 100 participants from Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, India, China, Russia and Spain, became the exhibitors of this international fair; of which 30 participants were first-time exhibitors.
More than 3.000 visitors attended the shoe exhibition.
On this occasion we presented the next autumn-winter 2018/2019 collection; focusing on our tradition of 100% handmade shoes, sewn using the Goodyear Welted manufacturing system. Try to expose our shoes and boots more robust (some with fleece lining), taking into account the harsh weather conditions that the Russian country suffers in the winter months.
